General

We do understand, that you come with a specific background of history knowledge. However, history is almost as tricky as philosophy. We talked to people, who wrote various thesis about school and university textbooks differences between countries and continents. So, if even textbooks provide different countries with different views on specific time be ready that an image of the historical time on this game may be different in some of the fields than you understand it. That means, that we just use different sources and we are more than happy to have a polite discussion about differences, but non of us is wrong. We may try to work out even better and even more realistic product by combining both of our articles, but if you come with strict attidute that your viewpoint is the only one right, just turn around and walk away. The world is huge and you can find a place, where your opinion will be above others. Here we do not tolerate that, because everything is a matter of different perspective.

In Character Actions = In Character Consequences

It is one of the main rules of our game. We do not try to idealize the Dark Ages as it is done in many various novels, movies and our tired modern thoughts, when we are eager to dream about the happy ending of the Cinderella story, or how we are handsome and undefeatable knights. The middle ages were not Cinderella. The streets were messy, the smell in the cities was disgusting, and people of middle ages were just used to that smell. The forests were dangerous, uprisings were common and politics were a very hard game to play. The life was not just framed by happy marriages. Some marriages were horrible. There were diseases and many things which were not understandable to the people of middle ages. That is why believe of magic still continued from ancient times and earlier. So, the game is dangerous and one wrong step may bring you unwanted consequences. Of course, you will be warned by staff, but just once.

Non-consent vs consent

We are both. We know, that there are people who love, when shit happens to their characters, and there are those who just want to have easy fun without feeling the darkness lurking behind their back. So, when you will be in chargen, you will have to chose what type of a game you prefer to play: non-consent or consent. The staff and all other players, who will indulge into RP with you, will have to take your choice into account. You can always change your choice from consent to non-consent, but you can’t change from non-consent to consent. Obviously, we do have such a rule, that people suddenly wouldn’t change their mind in the middle of a plot. Death of a character will be the only thing about which a non-consent players will be informed in advance by staff. At the same time, if a person decides to play a consent game, he can not abuse the player, who decided to chose a non-consent game. For example, Cedrick (consent) challenges to the duel till death Elrick (non-consent) and Cedrick announces that he doesn’t want to die. No. It doesn’t work. Such things may happen just between two non-consent players. So, remember, if you are a consent player, everyone is a consent player to you. Though, for the sake of a more realistic story line, we decided to make one exception: heads of the houses, heirs and characters in the main lines of noble families may be played just by non-consent players.

Staff Policy

General

The first responsibility of a staff is to realize that a game is looked after by the staff for the players, rather than a dictatorship of the players by the staff. Many things about a game are staff-determined, including the basic background of the game (henceforth referred to as 'canon'). Though, in this game, even the canon is not entirely determined by the staff, because we draw from published material to develop our original world: we use articles and books of scientists, psyhologists, historians and various other people, who can be considered as competent authority in providing us with knowledge about common life and politics of middle ages. In such case, the canon is also a matter of staff caretaking and playing with information, rather than staff determination.
