Snakur mean serpent in the old Hofsian language. Olometist nations know those creatures more as dragons these days. Originally, Snakur was used to describe medium size lizards, which because of their length reminded of serpants with four legs. Some of these creatures had even wings, but not all of them. Some had scales instead of the wings, some had thorns and spikes.
The creatures usually had the size of the cat. They were not very friendly or attached to the people. Actually, they usually tried to avoid them, being quite fearful.
There were a few specific species of these animals:
- Snakur Eldur (pl. Snakurs Elduris). Eldur means fire in the Hofsian language. Also, it is the name of their Goddess. People believe that those Snakurs were personal servants of Eldur. These dragons were the biggest ones. The island does not have big mountains, but there are some hills and edgy coastline. So, these type of dragons were usually found in the caves there. The skales of Snakurs Elduris usually were dark red, brightly red, dark brown, dark orange or had the mixture of these colors. Some of these dragons were glinting as gold in the rays of sun. They had wings, but no thorns. The scales allowed to live in the land, but they would never allow the Snakur Eldur live under the water. They usually attacked their preys using fire, which they exhaled. The flames could burn pretty badly, that is why people were trying to avoid these creatures. The population of such dragons was pretty small.
- Snakur Vatn (pl. Snakurs Vatni). Vatn means water in the Hofsian language. These dragons were the smallest ones, even smaller than cats would ever be. Their size could be compared with hummingbirds. Vatni lived close near the coasts under the water. They were like fishes and had scales, which allowed them to stay underwater for quite a long time. However, they were able to fly too, if needed, but not too far away from the water, because the time, which they were able to spend in the air, was limited. Their skales usually had the light blue, light dark colors, various tones of green. They usually ate various creatures under the water which they caught with their incredibly long tongues. Vatni also were able to spit water, when they were out in the air or on the land. The population of such dragons was pretty small too.
- Snakur Blom (pl. Snakurs Blomis). Blom means flower in the Hofsian language. These dragons were quite normal medium size. They had wings, but these never was very strong. However, Snakurs Blomis had incredibly long and very useful tails. The animals were eating just fruits, vegetables, and were able to get honey like bees from the pollen of the flowers. So, the long tail helped them to climbe in the trees. These creatures usually slept wrapping their tails around the branches of trees and hanging themselves upside down. The skales of these creatures was as colorful as the blooms of the flowers or these fruits they loved eating. It was possible to find yellow, orange, pinkish Snakurs Blomis. It is told, that when these dragons wanted, they were able to raise incredibly huge wind with just one exhale. That wind could blow their opponed many inches away. The population of such dragons was pretty wide.
- Snakur Byrnir (pl. Snakurs Byrniris). Byrnir means thorn in the Hofsian language. These dragons were medium size too and they were able to live under the ground. These creatures always had very dark brown or even black skales. It is told, that their vision was the best in the dark. People believe, that these dragons were like moles in their lifestyle. However, they had almost lucid, transparent wings. So, when they were flying, you was not able to see the wings. They looked like serpents floating in the air. It is also known, that they had very strong and heavy tails, which were just overgrown with throns. When Snakur Byrnir bumped with his tail into the ground, heavy earthquake could start and even part the ground apart. The population of such dragons was pretty small.
The story tells that things started to change in the course of time. Nobody was able to explain why, but these creatures started to grow bigger and bigger with each year. Moreover, if they usually tried to proper just between their type, suddenly more and more mixed Snakurs were born. Such mixtures of the Snakurs were called Snakur Hormung (pl. Snakurs Hormungus). Hormung means disaster in the Hofsian language. These creatures were different, less afraid of the people. Somehow, even these simple and pure Snakurs turn into the darker side and servants of Eldur were corrupted.
Locals of Hofsos started to be afraid to leave home. It was long before the New Era, when all this started. As expected, the time came when the island became too small for the Snakurs and the Grand Moving started. Those creatures started to fly and settle in the continent as well as in other islands. Those creatures caused caos and distress in the world.
The time has come when no Snakurs were left in the currently known Hofsos island, because it was just too small. Hofsians were happy and releaved that those dangerous creatures decided to settle down in other parts of the world. Since then they have never seen those creatures again.
It is not known what an opinion about such creatures other nations have, but Olometist nations believe that if those creatures existed before the New Era, they died during the Reign of Night.
