Climate

Asgardstrand is an island what gives a varied climate. You can never know what the weather will be like from day to day. It can be sunny one day and rainy the next. Though, in general Asgardstrand has warm summers and cool winters. Summers are cooler than those on the continent, but the winters are milder.

Asgardstrand has four distinct seasons of fairly equal length - spring, summer, autumn and winter. In winter it is colder and wetter and the days are shorter than in summer.

On average it rains one in four days in Asgardstrand. It is generally wetter in the east than the west and wetter in the highlands than the lowlands. Average temperatures in Asgardstrand are warmer at lower latitudes and colder at higher latitudes. They are also warmer at lower altitudes and colder at higher altitudes. Average yearly temperatures at low latitude vary from 7°C (44.6ºF) to 11°C (51.8ºF) on the north-east coast of Asgardstrand, where the capital may be found. The coldest months are January and February and the warmest are July and August.

Government

It's a confederacy (the union) of five Great native tribes made in order to protect their territory against common foes. The leaders of the Great native tribes, known as Chiefs, understood that they can't fight each other if they want to survive and secure their island. They established a tribal confederation and they are pleased with such a structure even to this day.

The government of tribal confederation can obviously be described as a confederation. A confederation (also known as a confederacy or league) is a union of sovereign states (tribes, in this case), united for purposes of common action often in relation to other states. Usually created by treaty, confederations of states tend to be established for dealing with critical issues, such as defense, foreign relations, internal trade or currency.

The Chiefs of the Great five native tribes form the Great Council and they are the highest authority in the country. The positions in the council (and the Head of the House position) is inherited by the absolute primogeniture order of succession. That means that the eldest child of the head of the house succeeds to the position, regardless of gender, and females (and their descendants) enjoy the same right of succession as males.

Though, there is one thing which excludes Asgardstrand from other countries of absolute primogeniture order of succession. The heir or a new head of the house may be challenged by another member of the family anytime. It usually ends in the duel till death and the winner may rightfully overtake/retain the position.
