Religion

It's a very simple religion mostly seen as paganism to the Olometist nations. The people of Yangzhou believe in Da Ziran, so called Mother Nature, under whose blessing they are born and die. People believe that Mother Nature marks the destiny upon which they have to follow and nothing can be changed.

Of course, there are some evil powers who attempt to poison the peaceful life Mother Nature is trying to create on earth. Mostly, those evil powers are sinful people. After death they just turn to ashes and nothing is left of them.

Most of the people are also challenged by Mother Nature to see if they can fight, stay strong, true and good, and move toward the goal the Mother Nature has set upon them. The goals doesn't have to be very marvelous or impressive. Sometimes you just have to be a good mother, become an unskilled laborer, etc.

Various hardships are sent upon those who stop trying to find their goal, duty, who are trying to live the life they are not destined for, or who just do not want to follow what Mother Nature has planned for them. Then people start to pray for Mother Nature asking for forgiveness and help to find their goals and duties on this world.

Each noble family was chosen by Mother Nature as Mentors for humanity to help them live and follow the right path. Each noble family was granted with a Guardian of the family, known as the Totem. Usually it's one type of animal. One family may have wolves as Guardians, the other - snakes, third - mice, etc. Sometimes certain common people or individual people, who get a special destiny to fill get a private guardian/totem too.

These animals are Spirits of the Dead sent by Mother Nature to protect them. All people who were good in life are reborn as one of the spirits to guard the living people or person - reborn as a Guardian/Totem.

Government

A monarchy is a form of government in which a group, usually a family called the royalty, embodies the country's national identity and one of its members, called the monarch, exercises a role of sovereignty. The House of Hou is currently the royal family of the Kingdom of Youngzhou and the head of their house Liling Mai Hou is the monarch, known as the Queen.

Absolute monarchy means that the monarch has absolute power among his or her people (her in this case). An absolute monarch wields unrestricted political power over the sovereign state and its people despite the fact that he has a Royal Council as a deliberative body. The House of Hou holds power in the Kingdom of Youngzhou for as long as history has been recorded. Likely, because the Kingdom is quite small and isolated on an island.

The House of Hou follows female primogeniture order of succession. The monarch's eldest daughter and her descendants take precedence over her siblings and their descendants. Elder daughters take precedence over younger daughters, but all daughters take precedence over all sons. Children represent their deceased ancestors, and the senior line of descent always takes precedence over the junior line, within each gender. The right of succession belongs to the eldest daughter of the reigning sovereign, and then to the eldest daughter of the eldest daughter.
