Religion

There is a high mountain in the lands of Isaccea called Muntele Zeilor (The Mountain of the Gods), the summit of which can not be reached by mortals. It is said that the crest of the mountain is hidden under the Nine Sheets of Clouds. The crest of the mountain is the Kingdom of Copacul Vieti - the Kingdom of Gods and Goddesses.

Copacul Vieti, better known as the Tree of Life to most foreigners, grows in the middle of that Kingdom. It is believed that half of the tree is always blooming and the other half is always bare, representing night and day, good and evil - the duality of the nature, which lies in the heart of all mortals and Gods.

The bare part of the tree is full of worms, snakes, pests, and the other sinister creatures of the world. This part of the tree draws its strength from within the mountain. The Kingdom of Rau (the underworld) is hidden there. It is believed that darker Gods and Goddesses reside there and sinful souls go there after death to endure eternal torment and danger.

The healthy part of the tree draws its strength from the sun and air. The better Gods and Goddesses live there and their duty is to take care of that part of the tree, so that it won't be corrupted by the darker side. The highest and most powerful God is known as Bunatate. The better souls of mortals go to the Kingdom of Copacul Vieti and they become the living creatures of the blooming tree: birds, squirrels, blooms, leaves, butterflies and other innocent creatures.

The liveliness and blooms of the healthy part of the tree provides the Gods and Goddesses with powers and immortality, this is what allows them to help people in the hour of need and protect them from harm. Their powers however are not strong enough to make the other half of the tree bloom and banish darker impulses from the world, because the bare branches of that dead part of the tree and their evil creatures are drawing power from the mountain which is strengthened by the sins of mortals walking the earth and sending the energy toward the mountain.

Isacceans believe that their Gods and Goddesses look like humans, they may walk among them and influence the lives of mortals. There are no purely evil or purely good Gods, instead they are either mostly good with some evil or mostly evil with some good. They suffer from the same troubles and desires as mortals: they love, they fight, they want and crave for things. They play with mortals when they want and they help them if they want. The difference is that Gods and Goddesses are immortal and have powers.

There are Gods and Goddesses for war, fertility, love, beauty, arts, et cetera. Everyone chooses whom they want to pray to, serve and ask help.

Government

A principality (or princedom) can either be a monarchical feudatory or a sovereign state, ruled or reigned over by a monarch with the title of prince or by a monarch with another title within the generic use of the term prince. Isaccea is a sovereign and independent state ruled by the Grand Prince. The principle of government is a hereditary and constitutional monarchy. A constitutional monarchy refers to a system in which the monarch acts as a political head of state under the Book of Laws, written and accepted by the Grand Council.

The Grand Council is the highest power in this country. The members of the Council are usually chosen by the Grand Prince. The grand Prince's position is inherited by the male primogeniture order of succession. The monarch's eldest son and his descendants take precedence over his siblings and their descendants. Elder sons take precedence over younger sons, but all sons take precedence over all daughters. Children represent their deceased ancestors, and the senior line of descent always takes precedence over the junior line, within each gender. The right of succession belongs to the eldest son of the reigning sovereign, and then to the eldest son of the eldest son.
